Anytime I ask other women entrepreneurs why they wanted to have their own business, the resounding response is freedom.
Time, location, and financial freedom.
The trifecta.
Which makes sense, because that’s exactly why I decided to pursue entrepreneurship as well. I wanted the freedom to create what I wanted for the clients I love to help the most, in the way that felt right for me, on my time, in whatever location I wanted, and charging the rates I feel is appropriate for the value I provide.
Total control and freedom over what I’m doing.
What does Location Freedom mean to me?
Location freedom is something I have always dreamed of. The glamourous idea of sitting poolside in some tropical, exotic place while I sip fruity mocktails, answer emails, support clients, and make money while I sleep has been a vision of mine since I was finishing design school (circa 2009).
But it never felt achievable. It felt like just a dream, not something I could actually do.
Since I’ve been in business for 6 years now, I have gained more and more clarity on the business and lifestyle I want for myself, and that includes being able to work from any place I want.
You see, I immigrated to Canada 18 years ago from the States, and while I love Canada, all my family and childhood friends are still in the States. I’ve always known that if I want to maintain strong, healthy, and fulfilling relationships with them, I need to be there for longer than a week or 2 every year. How could I possibly do that if I was working for a company with limited vacation time?
Location Freedom goes beyond traveling (flying, driving, train) far distances.
Wanna work from a coffee shop for the day? Or the park? Need to house sit for someone (or pet sit like I do in my other business)? Having the ability to pick up and go while still building your business will give you a whole new outlook on your business and life.

If you’ve ever stared longingly at photos of someone working poolside in Bali or tucked into a sunlit cafe in Tuscany, you’re not alone. As women entrepreneurs, we often crave more freedom – freedom to travel, explore, reset, and work from anywhere that inspires us. But too often, we’re chained to our desks, stuck in the belief that “real work” only happens in a home office.
The truth?
You can travel and grow your business at the same time. I know, because I am doing it.
I have been working from various locations for years; building and optimizing my mobile workspace. This year I packed up my laptop, organized my business systems, and headed to Bali – not for a vacation, but to work, teach, create, and live fully while running my business from across the world. And guess what? My business didn’t just survive. It thrived. I’m also planning another extended trip this fall to visit my best friends and family for my nephew’s 3rd birthday. ????
Here’s exactly how I make it happen (and how you can too).
1. Create a Mobile Workspace That Works Anywhere
Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or a month-long international adventure, your business needs to be ready to travel with you. That starts with creating a mobile-friendly, streamlined workspace.
Start by decluttering
Your physical office shouldn’t hold you hostage. If you need a giant desktop, 15 folders, and four paper planners to function—we need to talk. The more digital and simplified your systems, the easier it is to take your work anywhere.
Go digital with intention:
- Use cloud-based storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
- Install password managers and secure your access points
- Organize your digital files, photos, and workflows so you’re not wasting time searching for things
Your laptop should be a portal to your business, NOT a burden.

2. Plan Like a CEO, Not a Tourist
Planning is everything when it comes to working while traveling. This isn’t about winging it. It’s about creating an infrastructure that gives you both freedom and focus.
Things to consider before you go:
- Wi-Fi strength at your destination (and have a backup!)
- Time zone shifts and how they impact client meetings
- Local electrical outlets + pack a converter
- Work-friendly accommodations (Coworking? Desk space? Quiet areas?)
- Legal/Visa requirements if you’re working abroad
Mindset shift: You’re not going on vacation. You’re designing a work-life experience.
3. Stay Productive & Profitable While You Travel
Want to keep making money while you’re in a different time zone or sipping coconuts poolside?
Here’s what I tell my clients:
Work smarter, not harder.
✅ Set up automations to handle the busy work (think: email responders, content scheduling, client onboarding)
✅ Streamline your offers (VIP Days, one-off classes, or digital products are perfect while traveling)
✅ Batch your content ahead of time, then enjoy the moment
Travel doesn’t have to mean a drop in revenue. With the right structure, it can mean a boost in inspiration and income.
My revenue while traveling came from:
- Pre-booked client sessions (scheduled during optimal hours)
- Evergreen digital product sales (hello, passive income!)
- Teaching a masterclass from Bali (yep, live from paradise!)
4. Build the Location Freedom Business You Actually Want
Let’s be real: not everyone wants to be a full-time digital nomad. Some of us love our homes, our pets, our routines and just want the freedom to pick up and go when we want to.
That’s what building a location freedom business is all about. It’s not about working 24/7 from the road. It’s about creating choices.
When you run your business your way, you choose:
- Where you work (from home, Hawaii, or your sister’s kitchen)
- When you work (a few hours a day? Four-day workweek?)
- What you offer (1:1s, group coaching, products, retreats?)
This lifestyle isn’t reserved for influencers or lucky few. It’s available to you, right now. It starts by reimagining what your business is capable of.

Can you really build a six-figure business while traveling?
Yes, and the travel is rarely what makes it hard. The hard part is building a business whose delivery does not require your physical presence, which is the same work whether you travel or not. Travel just makes the gaps obvious sooner.

A workspace that lives in the cloud rather than on one machine, a way for clients to reach you that respects boundaries, and at least one revenue stream that does not need you live. Everything else is logistics.

You plan the business calendar first and the itinerary second. Move deadlines off the trip dates, decide what pauses, and build in working blocks before you book anything. Tourists optimize the days. CEOs optimize what the days cost the business.
