What is an AI employee?
An AI employee has three things a chatbot does not have: a written record of how your business runs, one specific job, and a trigger that starts the job.
You open ChatGPT and ask it to write a follow-up email. It writes something generic, you rewrite most of it, and by tomorrow it has forgotten you and your business all over again. You are the one holding the context, every single time.
An AI employee already knows your offers, your clients, your voice, and what you actually say to a woman after you meet her in a networking room. It drafts the follow-up, files the contact, flags the opportunity, and leaves the draft in your folder before you have opened your laptop. It does the work whether or not you remember to ask for it.

I am not a developer. I have never written a line of production code and I have no interest in learning. Everything below was built by describing my own business carefully enough that the work could be handed over.
Executive Assistant
Writes my morning brief before I am awake. It merges every calendar I keep, gives me a short dossier on each person I am meeting that day, my top three priorities, and only the email that genuinely needs me.
Chief Relationship Officer
Runs my inbox, LinkedIn, Instagram and Messenger. It tracks every contact, every opportunity and every invitation I get, and drafts the follow-up after a connection call while the conversation is still warm.
Chief Publicity Officer
Finds speaking gigs, podcasts and press, applies for them on my behalf, and follows up when nobody replies. It is the reason I stopped losing opportunities in a spreadsheet.
Content Director
Takes one video and turns it into the newsletter, the social posts and the reels, in my voice, using my own examples rather than generic ones.
Website Manager
Builds and updates the pages on this website. This page included.
CFO
Watches revenue against my goals, flags the subscriptions I forgot I was paying for, and tells me which offer is actually carrying the month.

The method
How do you build an AI employee?
You write down how your business runs before you build anything. Every AI employee reads from that one document, so it comes first and everything else sits on top of it.

Write down how your business actually runs
In your words. What you do after you meet a woman at a networking event. How you want your inbox handled. How you record a video and turn it into reels. How your bookkeeping gets done. This document is what every AI employee reads from, and it takes about an afternoon.

Set the account up properly, once
One paid Claude account, with the account-wide setting almost nobody fills in, and your calendar, your email and your files connected to it. This part gets done a single time and every employee after it inherits the setup.

Build one employee with one job
One job, written down, with what good looks like. The morning brief is the right first one, because it runs every day and you find out inside twenty-four hours whether the setup works.

Some of mine run on a schedule without being asked. Others wait until I call them. You decide which for each job, and that decision is what makes it an employee instead of a document you keep.

Do you need to be technical?
No. There is no code in any of this. The hard part is describing your own business precisely enough that somebody else could do the work from your description.
If you can fill in a form and follow a written instruction, you can build your first one. Every menu path in the guide is named rather than described by where a button used to sit, so you can still find it after the menu moves.

Who I am
I built this on my own business first
I am Marybeth Welty, founder of Sustainable Lifestyle Solutions, now in my seventh year of business. About ten years came before that, in interior design and building consulting. The last five or six have gone into working with women entrepreneurs on how their businesses actually run, and I have taught, trained and coached hundreds of them across North America, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
The AI employees are new this year. The work underneath them goes back years. I spent years helping women get organised enough to grow, and the moment I could hand that structure to a system that reads it and acts on it, the whole thing changed shape. So I built it for myself first, in my own business, and worked out every way it can go wrong before I put it in front of anybody else.

Will it sound like me?

I have bought tools before and never opened them again. What is different here?
Most tools get handed over before anybody asks how your business actually runs, so there is nothing for them to work from. The order here is reversed.
