“Death cleaning is as much (or more) for you as for the people who come after you.”

The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning covers every stage of life from relocation to everyday organization to travelling on to another. This book is an extremely easy read and I found it very clearly written.

I really appreciate how the Author includes her own real-life experiences in with her advice for clearing your home out room by room. Magnusson states plainly she is somewhere between 80 and 100 years old and has quite obviously lived a very colourful life. Swedish death cleaning is not just about cleaning, it is about the art of simpler lifestyle choices no matter what stage of life you are in. I love the thought of using every item I own rather then having items stowed away for a later date that never get used and someone eventually might have to clear out after I am gone so I can very much appreciate this method.

“Death cleaning is not about dusting or mopping up; it is a permanent form of organization that makes your everyday life run more smoothly” the author states. I can really identify with this as every day chaoticness of life can be overwhelming so only having what I will need and not having to rifle through several items to get to what I am looking for really cuts down on wasted time. I also feel more comfortable in my home if it is more orderly and that is straight to the heart of what death cleaning is about.

Magnusson will help you map out new spaces if you are moving, guide you through the process of discussing the topic of death cleaning and will even discusses the topic of recycling all the items you choose to part with. With an artistic flare and some advice on how many dildos you should keep, you will not be sorry going on this books journey. Do not miss out on this great fantastic read. I am so happy to have finally read this book and would recommend this to anyone in any walk of life.
